American Pale Ale Competition - April
Hey Fellow Central Coast brewers,
We will be having our first club competition - American Pale Ale.
Pretty simple, just bring a longneck of your best APA to the meeting in April to enter.
Judging will be done by everyone that attends and the highest score wins! Judging standards are to BJCP guidelines 10A http://www.bjcp.org/2008styles/style10.php
Prizes are on offer from Toukley Country Brewer (I hear its a brand new Kegerator )

Funny guys!
I thought the prize was actually a tin of Coopers Lager and BE2
Maybe down the track when we have a few more members a Kegerator could be on the cards as a prize.
This time I still have to work out prizes, but should be worthwhile!

Re: American Pale Ale Competition - April
So guys what kind of a date are we aiming for? End of March ? or later?
I need to really get on with brewing it but am waiting on a essential ingrediant
The lads at 'Six String' said a meet at the brewery could possibly work.

I seriously doubt I'll find the time to brew anything for this, so in terms of nominating a time I'm out. I do however have dome excess Columbus flowers so if anybody wants some let me now and I'll drop them off at Duane's on Friday arvo.

Alright, 21st of April it is!
Marc, are you able to see if the 6 String boys are cool with us as a venue? And that they don't mind us bringing some of our own beer? Maybe one of them could be one of the judges. I ran into Josh at the shops yesterday and he said he would also be a judge as he won't be able to enter.

So how is everyone going with their Pale ale?
Marc are you still going to brew, even if you can't make it to the judging?

Re: American Pale Ale Competition - April
I've gone mine fermenting at the moment.
Maris Otter base with 500g of Victory and 500g of Vienna. All Centennial hops and 1056 yeast. I didn't let my starters finish, so I think I may have majorly underpitched. Oh well.
Sprung a leak or you just drank it really fast?

I have two family functions on the 21st. There is no way I can get to the judging. I know I had not entered a beer but I am still bummed out about missing the catchup

Re: American Pale Ale Competition - April
So who can make it this Sunday?
Same time and place as previous weekends - Long Jetty Park 3pm
You can volunteer as a judge if you aren't entering. If everyone brings an entry, we can all judge.
If you have an entry, bring it along on Sunday. If you can't make it and still want to enter - You can drop off at Duanes shop at Toukley or my place at Gosford (Near the hospital, PM me for the address).
Hopefully we will see everyone there!

I'm there and I've got a beer to enter. Do we just need one longneck for the entry? Is there anything else that I should bring?

One longneck should be fine.
Bring along a tasting glass if you want - Much better than plastic.
