Re: Christmas case swap
Ok I have managed to get through all these beers over the last 6 weeks or however long it has been.
Here are my notes, my flavour descriptors are pretty basic, but I hope to be able to work on that
1. Duane. --- Sweet Stout. ready to drink now
Black with the slightest brown highlights in the light. White short lasting head. bitter aromas from the
roasted malt, but no real hop aroma. taste is oddly thin, given the likely addition of lactose. some tartness,
dominates, expecting a thicker, creamier beer. Ill need to try more commercial examples before i can pass proper judgement.
2.Paul (emnpaul on the forums) --- APA. Ready to drink around new years but will confirm
Nice copper colour, clear, with a small head. hop aroma was minimal, but stronger on the palate. seemed a bit undercarbed but not too bad. nice caramal malt flavour, that was moderate in mouthfeel. hop flavour leaves a drying bitterness on the tounge. Yeast influence is minimal. a very nice well crafted beer

3. Pete Munich Dunkel ready to drink/Tripel would appreciate aging
Dunkel - dark brown with red/bronze highlights on a firm head. light caramel aromas on the nose some yeast fruityness present. nice mouthfeel with a slightly thicker body than expected. nice moderate hopping, that balances the beer well. i have not had many munich dunkels, but I enjoyed it alot
Triple - Nice fruity aromas and taste. lightly carbonated, and quite sweet. Clearly I drank it too young.
Showing some potential though.
4.Sama Kolsch ready to drink
Brilliantly clear from the most overfilled bottle I have ever seen. Bright white head that resembled a
meragne. slightly nutty grainy pilsner malt character that was appealing. Hops are well balanced and appropriate to style. No obvious yeast flavours. Overall clean crisp and very sessionalble. Question, what pils malt was used, and was it a decoction mash? Because the malt complexity was impressive considering I am sure it was a simple malt bill.

6. Ian --- Smoked Robust Porter.
nice smoke on the nose, thin head, nice malt notes, and burnt flavours that was really nice. chocolate hints, smoke is very mild on the palate. highly drinkable I really enjoyed it
7.marc-- rye farmhouse ale tried one yesterday carbonation is fine but i would sit on it for a few months
very interesting, has some flavours that remind me of a flemish red or oud bruin, dark black with brown
highlights. some mild sourness and acrid notes. sharp on the finish. i didn't heed advice and opened it on a bench and it was a gusher. beer was not overcarbonated though. Showing some potential, and hopefully will develop more complexity over time.

8.Chris Brown Porter
AS others have said some issues with band aid flavours. My bottle didn't have any floaties like others, and was carbonated nice. The plastic taste was mild, and maybe I am not very sensitive to it. Unlucky, it happens to us all at some time.
9.James -- Hefeweizen drinkable now. who ever ended up with the bottle with a D on it is not a weiss
Mostly clear straw gold, with firm moussy head. wheat notes on the nose, slight tartness on the palate, which was nice. no huge banana / clove yeast esters. body on the thinner side, reminds me of matilda bay redback wheat. nice beer.
10. Rob -- Belgian Strong Ale - (Can drink now but the longer you leave it the better it will get)
Black with brown highlights and a thick off white head. smells of caramel and brown sugar. taste huge in the caramel sweet area, actually the beer is very sweet, and lingers in the mouth. The yeast spice is intense and pretty darn nice. There is a nice residual alcohol note that seems appropriate for the style. If it was a bit drier and not so sweet it would be perfect

Re: Christmas case swap
I must second Samas remark, great job with the tasting notes!
I have tried all the beers except for the Tripple and the Farmhouse Ale and the porter which gushed out when opened.
I have enjoyed all the beers thus far and honestly cant say there has been any I have tasted yet that i couldn't drink.
Paul, I feel I would have enjoyed your APA much more if it was carbed up a little more, I think this may have helped the hop flavour shine through a bit more, but that is only in my opinion.
The ones I wish I had a few more bottles of where, Petes Dunkel and Samas' Kolsch, hats off fellas great beers.
